Welcome to the NYS AHEC Scholars Program: Year 2!

Thank you for your continued participation in the NYS AHEC Scholars Program! Designed to provide current health professional students with community-learning opportunities in underserved and medically disadvantaged areas, you, along with a group of other interdiscplinary students, will identify the root causes of select clinical and social complexities. In this second half of the two year program, the online modules will provide more in-depth knowledge related to healthcare quality improvement/practice transformation, caring for vulnerable populations, and mental health and primary care integration. Your participation supports the enhancement of a highly qualified and capable workforce ready to implement today’s healthcare reform efforts of better health, better care, and better value for underserved communities struggling with health disparities.

If asked to view a video within any module, you are able to access the clip directly on the page by clicking on the “Play” button.
Several modules contain additional resources including articles, reports, and videos related to the topic at the bottom of the page. You are encouraged to review these additional resources, although their completion is a not a mandatory component of this course.
