Program Purpose. The purpose of the Re-Employment Support and Training for the Opioid Related Epidemic (RESTORE) Program is to support women in the Greater Buffalo Niagara region who have been impacted (directly or indirectly) by the opioid epidemic to regain their place in employment and/or start a new career and gain financial independence.

 

Eligibility Criteria. Individuals wishing to apply for a scholarship through the NYS AHEC System RESTORE Program must:

  • Reside in Erie or Niagara County
  • Be a female age 18 or older that has been directly or indirectly affected by the Opioid Epidemic
  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • Be an accepted student in a workforce development/career training program lasting 6 months or less. (Example eligible career training programs include: Phlebotomy Technician, Nursing Assistant, Sterile Processing Technician, etc.)

Priority consideration will be given to those who demonstrate a desire to immediately secure employment following program completion and/or applicable licensure and certification.

 

Guidelines. This scholarship opportunity is only available for the current Winter/Spring 2022-2023 timeframe. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, with scholarships also awarded on a rolling basis. Funds are limited. Scholarship recipients must attend and pass their respective training program, and agree to all RESTORE Program requirements, including participation in six employment support workshops, including (i.e. resume writing, interviewing skills, soft skills development, etc.) and longitudinal tracking post-employment.

 

Amount. Scholarship amounts will vary based on cost of matriculated program (costs that may be covered include tuition, associated fees, and exam/certification expenses). No scholarship will be greater than $2,000. All funds will be paid directly to the academic institution on behalf of the scholarship recipient, with no funds going directly to the awardee.
